Mekic showcases South-West Asian artists, most from Iran, the homeland of the gallery owners Behrokh Montazemi and Kaveh Vafadari. Together they have created a welcoming cultural centre, which also houses a bookstore and a library, and has its own publishing house that is a branch of the parent company well established in Iran.

In addition to presenting numerous art exhibitions, Mekic also organizes myriad cultural activities from musical spectacles, film screenings, and readings, to the many traditional Iranian festivals to which all are invited. There are discussion evenings twice a month, encouraging debates centred around everything from books and art to cooking and politics.
But undeniably, its raison d’être is art, and the art is truly original, representing renowned South-West Asian artists living around the world. They bring with them images never seen before, and a diversity of styles and mediums. To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Mekic has organized a major exhibition of 25 of its artists, from such well-known names as Khosro Berahmandi, to emerging young artists like Maryam Izadifard. A show not to be missed…
