Located in the very heart of the Museum complex, the Sculpture Garden showcases twenty-three works by Canadian and international artists, and is a perfect spot to wander around this summer. This is one of the largest collections of public art in the city, and the section of Du Musée bordering the garden has been transformed into a pedestrian mall until October.
The works on display offer a history of sculpture, from the modern era to today. This year, an imposing sculpture by Armand Vaillancourt has been added to others by Rodin, Henry Moore, Mimmo Paladino, Antony Gormley, Jim Dine, Jean-Paul Riopelle, Kosso Eloul, Sorel Etrog, Joe Fafard, Fernand Léger, César, Claude Lalanne, Barry Flanagan, Colleen Wolstenholme, Elisabeth Frink, Jaume Plensa, Aaron Curry and David Altmejd.
In connection with an exhibition of glass art by American artist Dale Chihuly, a spectacular installation, The Sun, composed of 1,200 pieces of glass, is also on display on the stairs of the Michal and Renata Hornstein Pavilion, and can be viewed from the Sculpture Garden.
