The return marks a significant advance in the ongoing initiative led by Concordia University in Montreal to recover more than 400 Nazi-looted artworks belonging to the late Max Stern.

A return ceremony will be held:

October 29 at 11:00 a.m.
Marshall McLuhan Salon
Embassy of Canada
Leipziger Platz 17, 10117 Berlin

Welcoming remarks will be made by Marie Gervais-Vidricaire, Ambassador of Canada in Germany, with presentations by:

- Dr. Willi Korte, lead investigator, the Max Stern Art Restitution Project.
- Dr. Susanne Anna, director, Stadtmuseum, Landeshauptstadt Düsseldorf
- Dr. Uwe Hartmann, director, Arbeitsstelle für Provenienzforschung, the German government agency established to finance provenance research projects on the fate of looted items in German collections.

This latest restitution comes as Canada chairs the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA), an inter-governmental organization that positions the support of political and social leaders behind the need for Holocaust education, remembrance and research.
