This is a perfect opportunity to see beautiful paintings in exquisite scenery that is the property housing this elegant gallery. Lui’s works hark at ancient calligraphy, while charting their own, unique pictorial course. Educated in art and art history in Europe, he has found a way of bridging the diverse cultures of the east and west, developing in the process his own fluid visual lexicon.

Born in Canton, China, escaping the ravages of the Cultural Revolution by swimming to Hong-Kong, Andrew Lui imbues his paintings with a painful personal history, which is transformed in his art into a world of light and hope. Deep philosophical reflection is at the root of his creative vision, hidden in the deceptively easy sweeps of the brush. A profound aesthetic sense and mastery of the medium are behind Lui’s acclaim, and he has shown his works in exhibitions around the world, from Toronto to Florence.

This year, he will be exhibiting at several international shows, with the Oeno exhibition at the start of his artistic itinerary. The works on display in this show continue his Pilgrimage series and as always are marked by great spontaneity of gesture and a sophisticated, intuitive use of colour. The gallery, located on a stunning property that includes a vineyard and hotel, is surrounded by a sculpture garden, offering the visitor a particularly pleasant experience of meandering around the green space, enjoying both art and nature.
