Conference The socio-technical imagination of blockchain

Before the conference, curators Erik Bordeleau and Bernard Schütze will be present in the exhibition space to answer your questions.

Situated at the intersection of artistic creation, urban activism, cryptoeconomic design, and artisanal beekeeping, the Beecoin – Beeholders – BeeDAO project (ZK/U – Center for Art and Urbanistics and KUNSTrePUBLIK, 2019-2022), presented concurrently at VOX and at documenta XV, stands out in the field of infrastructural and artistic practices inspired by blockchain. Functioning as a decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) and initiated within the urban renewal project Haus der Statistik in the heart of Berlin, Beeholders – BeeDAO is a democratic, cross-species, Web 3.0 cyberorganizational prototype dedicated to improving the living conditions of bees.

In this presentation, Nathalie Casemajor and Erik Bordeleau will freely discuss this project in relation to other works that mobilise the socio-technical imaginary of the blockchain and explore alternative economic forms, including the circular economy project Dayra presented by the Palestinian collective The Question of Funding, and Hito Steyerl’s Animal Spirits installation and its deliciously ironic cheesecoin.
